My connection was when Marissa (Jacob's daughter) when she was sitting at the dinner table with her family and she could smell all of the food which made her stomach growl, well when i sit at the dinner table and i smell all of the food my stomach will start to growl too. I also wondered what happened to the rest of Jacob's family after one of his brothers died.
My connection is when for the first time Jacob is left home alone and he was feeling all tense.I have a connection to this because I feel tense when I'm home alone. I hear noises but I just ignore it. But he is just being aware because if any Nazi soldier were to knock he would have to hide.
My connection from Jacob's Rescue was when Alex sold his and Mela's house and then Alex took the family to see the new house that he bought that was totally disgusting and not a house that they can have a family in. That reminded me of when my mom and dad went to look at the house we are living in now and everything was an ugly color including walls, carpets, railings, etc. And my mom said i can't live in this! And now it is newly renovated and everything is all fixed.
My connection to the book is in the start, when Jacob gets mad at Alex (Jacob's farther) for telling Marissa (Jacob's daughter) to go ahead and start eating, she does scarf down the food because she hasn't eaten anything all day. I always torture my sister like that when she hasn't eaten, I also always get in trouble for it too... I wonder how old is jacob and Alex when they are around the dinner table in the first chapter. So far, that was my favorite part of the book, because I have a strong connection to it.
My connection was when the book was talking about how the Nazi's had invaded Poland and stolen Jewish homes, and businesses, it reminded me of when i watched the movie "The boy in the striped pajamas" and how in the concentration camps how the Jews had way better lives, homes, and jobs before the Nazi's took them away. I also feel sorry for Jacob and how he has to hide, and how many people want him gone just because he is Jewish.
@Skullduggery: I thought that your connection was a strong connection with good detail. Haha I can connect to that too! But the connection was good, so good job!
@Alexandria I never let my stomach growl at the dinner table, i just grab a piece of bread or something and start eating. My family never really cares because they just start eating too so we never are waiting to eat.
@Skullduggery i agree with Peter P. your connection was strong and had good detail! I had a connection to that too. I always tease my little brother when he is hungry or just bug him, but then i get in trouble! But I loved your connection it was so good!
@minie i don't really feel like I feel bad for jacob i think he is lucky. Jacob is lucky cause he is in a home with a very sweet family SAFE. So many jewish family's had to be sent to concentration camps and die for it be taken away from there family not knowing who is left in there family. People had to be torn away and died in front of everyone. Had to work for the nazi's. It was cruel what they had to do and very sad. Jacob is one of the lucky ones LIKE VERY LUCKY for there to still be people caring and helping him. People are starving around him and death is all around him but he is not the dyeing. So i disagree with that but i like the rest of your comment. :]
@Alexandria:I really liked your connection it made sence and I bet lots of people could also connect to it too! It does get pretty over welming after a while I start to get a bit hungry after smelling food. Haha! Thats funny I also was wondering that.
i dont really like this book i think that daneils story was way better but this one is slow in the start because it is more of talking and thinking and no action it still has not gotten much faster but it is an ok book to read
@winnie I understand that Jacob is very lucky..but he lost his aunt hannah and his grandmother...and Alex, Mari, Yurek and Mela risked their lives for him. He was very lucky to survive, but most of his family died, that is why i feel bad. Because he lost alot of important people in his life, and also how the Nazi's treat the Jews wasn't very fair. But thanks for the feedback[:
@Minie I don't feel that sorry for jacob, i mean yes his family was killed but I would consider him more lucky because of the family that took him in and took care of him. But i do agree that the jews had better lives, jobs, and homes before the war.
@minie i think Jacob is very lucky to live with a nice and caring family like Alex's. Jacob is lucky also because he could be in a concentration camp if it wasn't for Alex and how well he looks after Jacob. Yes I also feel bad for Jacob because nazi's are trying to find more Jews to kill and Jacob knows he is one of them and I can't imagine how scared he was.
@Pooh . @Skullduggery Yes, Jacob is a very lucky boy but he lost so many people in his life, and i dont really feel bad for Jacob, i feel bad for all Jews. Jacob was very lucky to have a family that cared about him, but imagine how he felt. Mela leaving the house wanting to tell the Nazi's about Jacob? and how Alex and Mela were fighting about keeping Jacob. Thats why i felt bad. He had a caring family but im sure he was scared of losing them, just like he lost his family .
